Unconventional Shows of Rick Owen

Among with unconventional shows, there are more outrage standouts from designers. We all probably notice that the goal of the shows is to grab the attention of viewers as they potentially would come, the customers one day, but sometimes seems the reaction could be opposite.

Esthetics of the proposed designs can vary. Vision and acceptance on certain concepts definitely need to be presented in accordance with designers view. Let's see how Rick Owen turn his show to the unconventional platform.a

Rick Owens is a 52-year-old is an American fashion designer.(18 November 1962). His mother being Mexican, Owens has literally not disclosed anything about his early childhood. He first started studying at Otis College of Art and Design before moving on to studying at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College to learn draping and pattern making. In 1994, Rick Owens set up his own label, an apparel focused brand. Owen’s label created just for Charles Gallay, which was an extremely popular retailer in California at the time.

In 2001, Owens teamed with Eco Bocci Associati to develop his company internationally and moved the production of Owenscorp to Italy. The campaign was a success and Owens gained a lot of popularity. In the same year, model Kate Moss flaunted Owens leather jackets for Corinne Day‘s editorial shoot.b

The following year, Owens debuted his first collection after getting the attention he needed. Owens can be given a lot of credit for basically building his brand from the ground. Many other fashion designers sometimes got lucky or had contacts in the fashion industry however it was his extreme style that enabled Rick Owens to excel even more.c

Seeing Owen’s talent, Anna Wintour, and Vogue America decided to sponsor Rick Owens and listed him as one of the most fabulous discoveries. After his main label took off almost instantly after he was sponsored by the two parties. Because of the success, Owen was able to set up several separate brands with different styles however they did not venture too far from his original style.d

Owens has four of his own labels: Rick Owens, Palais Royal, DRKSHDW, Rick Owens Lilies. Apart from Rick Owens, his most popular label, DRKSHDW is also very popular. DRKSHDW is just like his main label, however, features some distressed pieces along with many elongated pieces. DRKSHDW’s collections are famed for fitting nearly 3 sizes too big.k

Not much is known about the designer and he appears to be a somewhat mysterious figure. To date, he lives in Paris with his wife although he does have a strange day-to-day program. Owens has four awards, they are as follows: Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award, 2007, Fashion Group International Rule Breaker Award, 2007, CFDA Perry Ellis Emerging Talent Award, 2002. Owens chose to live in Paris for many reasons however his main reason is so he can deliver expensive pieces to his clients which many designers do not do as they rely on personal couriers.

Rick Owens has recently been known for the rarity of his pieces and how collectible they are.

Models hit the runway in a number of neutral bodysuits, cloaks, dresses with major draping and asymmetrical hemlines, and parachute-like jumpsuits. But it was hard to focus on the clothes with the models suspended from other models shoulders, hanging around their necks and clinging to their backs. That’s right, Owens even introduced us to the human backpack. See the best photos below.

But it turns out there is more to this craziness than meets the eye — it's about uplifting women, revealed Owens in a statement to The New York Times.

"When applied to women, I see that focused vision being more about nourishment, sisterhood, motherhood, and regeneration. Women raising women, women becoming women and women supporting women. The world of women I know little about and can only attempt to amuse in my own small way," he said.l

Of course, that message was no doubt missed by many because of the awkward positions the models were in (which conjured sexual images for many and just plain confusion for much more) and the fact that they were literally human accessories.

Even if models look absolutely miserable and many found it ridiculous, the shadows of the show gone far from usual acceptance.wink
